Le Corbusier's Masterpiece, National Museum of Western Art - A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Located in Ueno Park, Tokyo, the National Museum of Western Art is a historic building designed by the modern architectural master, Le Corbusier, and was completed in 1959. In 2016, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title 'The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier – An Outstanding Contribution to the Modern Movement,' further highlighting its significance.

The museum features a pilotis structure that elevates the first floor, with a '19th Century Hall' at its center that allows natural light to pour in. Its modular design, characterized by geometric and functional aesthetics, enables flexible expansion or contraction of space. Don't miss the famous Rodin sculptures displayed outside!

Inside the museum, a wide range of Western art pieces, including paintings and sculptures from the 15th to the 20th century, are exhibited, making it easy for both art enthusiasts and general visitors to understand the flow of Western art history.

Additionally, Hyundai Card holders can enjoy free admission for themselves and one companion. Check the Hyundai Card app for details!

The museum is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station.

I visited without high expectations but was thoroughly impressed. I highly recommend a visit!
