🚩Location: Tongchuan is located in central Shaanxi Province and is an important part of the Guanzhong Plain city cluster. It lies at the junction of the Guanzhong Basin and the northern Shaanxi Plateau, with distinct seasons and unique scenery in each. Visiting in August is cool and pleasant~

🚗Recommended transportation:
✈️Airplane: First arrive at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport. There are shuttle buses to Tongchuan from the airport, or you can take a taxi or transfer to a train in Xi’an to Tongchuan, though the journey is a bit longer.
🚞Train: Tongchuan has a train station with many train options. Just check the schedule before traveling~
🚌Bus: Multiple bus stations in Xi’an have buses to Tongchuan. The trip takes about 2 hours, with frequent departures, convenient and affordable.
🚗Self-driving: Drive from Xi’an along the Baomao Expressway, about 1.5 hours to reach Tongchuan. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and you can stop to rest anytime.

🎈Itinerary (3 days 2 nights):
Day 1: Arrive in Tongchuan in the morning → Yaowang Mountain → Taste Tongchuan delicacies (salty soup noodles, wowo noodles, etc.) → Visit Chenlu Ancient Town in the afternoon → Return to the city for overnight stay
Day 2: Shaanxi-Gansu Border Zhaojin Revolutionary Base Site → Zhaojin Pasture → Xishan Scenic Area → Stay overnight in Zhaojin Town
Day 3: Yuhua Palace → Jinsuo Pass Stone Forest → Return trip

1. Yaowang Mountain: The hermitage of Medicine King Sun Simiao, featuring stunning Sui and Tang dynasty grotto art and cliff carvings. Ancient cypress trees tower here, and the summit offers a panoramic view of Tongchuan city, blending history and nature with rich cultural heritage.

Chenlu Ancient Town: Known as the “living fossil of ancient Eastern ceramics” and “a thousand years of continuous kiln fire.” Stroll through to admire the unique “pot wall,” visit the “porcelain workshop,” and personally experience the intangible cultural heritage skills of Yaozhou porcelain wheel-throwing and carving, enjoying the fun of pottery making.
3. Shaanxi-Gansu Border Zhaojin Revolutionary Base Site: A national patriotic education base where you can receive a red spirit baptism and learn about revolutionary history. It’s very educational and a must-visit if you’re bringing children.
4. Zhaojin Pasture: Vast grasslands paired with colorful flower seas, where you can also try mountain biking to feel freedom and exhilaration. Perfect for photography with a high success rate for great shots!

Xishan Scenic Area: The core area of the Zhaojin Danxia landform, the original scene of Northern Song dynasty painter Fan Kuan’s “Travelers Among Mountains and Streams.” It combines the “danger of Mount Hua” and the “beauty of southern mountains,” with scenic views all year round. In summer, the vegetation is lush and cool, with unique geological features and rich natural ecology.
6. Yuhua Palace: A Tang dynasty imperial palace and the place where Xuanzang, the famous monk, passed away after translating scriptures. It integrates natural and cultural landscapes. The forest coverage is high, with summer temperatures about 10°C cooler than the city. Streams, waterfalls, and lakes dot the area. You can also visit the Su Chengyuan ruins and Xuanzang Memorial Hall to feel the historical depth.
7. Jinsuo Pass Stone Forest: Karst landform with stone pillars, peaks, and walls in various shapes, like stepping into a world of strange stones. There are also entertainment options like sightseeing cable cars and glass suspension bridges, thrilling and exciting.

📌Tips:

1. The temperature difference between morning and evening in Tongchuan in August is large, so remember to bring a light jacket.
2. Some attractions are far apart, so self-driving or chartering a car is more convenient and allows more flexible scheduling.
3. Chenlu Ancient Town, Yaowang Mountain, and other spots have many local specialties and snacks to try and buy, but be mindful of prices.
