I believe that even if you have never been to Uji, you must have heard of Uji Matcha.
What is Uji, known as the "hometown of matcha", like?

Uji City is located in the southern part of Kyoto. It only takes about 20 minutes by JR from Kyoto Station, and transportation is very convenient.
Shortly after walking out of the JR station, you will see the famous Japanese tea specialty store "Nakamura Tokichi Main Store".
If you don't want to queue up, be sure to arrive early.
It is really relaxing to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jiji River while enjoying traditional matcha desserts.

Another must-see attraction is the Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple.
If you look at the buildings on the 10 yen and 10,000 yen notes, you will find that they are from Byodoin Temple! Very representative.

After shopping, you can take a break at Starbucks near Byodoin Temple. The architecture and nature are integrated into one.
It has plenty of light and is a popular spot for locals.
