As a big matcha lover, it was essential for me to visit the heart of high-quality Japanese matcha — Uji! 🍵

This charming city is located near Kyoto and is easily accessible by subway. It’s an incredible day-trip destination where you can relax while enjoying matcha in countless ways — from a classic matcha latte to rich matcha cheesecake, and of course, matcha ice cream!

I also recommend visiting the Tea and Uji Community Center, Chazuna (お茶と宇治のまち交流館 茶づな), where you can learn about the origins of tea in Japan, explore different varieties, and even prepare a cup of matcha yourself.
