[Vatican City] Vatican Museums

#0YenTravelAutumn2025

The Vatican Museums are a complex of over 20 art galleries and museums, both large and small, whose construction was helped by successive popes.
The maze-like museums are packed with highlights, centered around the collections of past popes since the Renaissance!
You'll easily run out of time just visiting the famous sites.

The Sistine Chapel, built by Pope Sixtus IV around 1480, is filled with artwork from the walls to the ceiling.
The most famous works are Michelangelo's ceiling painting, "The Creation," and the mural, "The Last Judgment."
Photography is generally prohibited within the museum.

The Raphael Rooms are comprised of four sections: the Room of the Fire of the Borgo, the Room of the Signatures, the Room of Heliodorus, and the Room of Constantine. They display paintings by Raphael and his disciples.
The School of Athens features a fresco by Raphael Santi.
The painting brings together all the great figures of the time, including the artist himself.

The Pio-Clementino Museum is divided into five areas and displays many sculptures from ancient Greece and Rome.

The Pinacoteca (Pinacotheca) has 18 exhibition rooms and displays many paintings from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, from the 11th to 16th centuries.

The Gallery of Maps is a long corridor displaying approximately 120 meters of maps of Italy.

It's a magnificent, golden gallery.

There's so much to see that it can be overwhelming, so I recommend doing some research beforehand. Lol
