🏰 Fairytale by the Lake – Visiting Chillon Castle

Visiting Chillon Castle felt like stepping into a storybook. Set right along the edge of Lake Geneva, the views alone were enough to take our breath away—turquoise water lapping gently against the ancient stone walls, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. It’s no wonder this place is one of Switzerland’s most photographed landmarks.

Walking through the castle was both eerie and fascinating. The dungeons were atmospheric, the grand halls echoed with centuries of history, and the wooden beams and narrow stone staircases made everything feel authentic and untouched. I especially loved the rooms that looked out to the lake—imagine waking up to that view back in medieval times!

It was well worth the detour from Montreux. We took our time wandering around, and the self-guided information panels were helpful in bringing the castle’s stories to life. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip through Switzerland.
