That Dam, also known as the "Black Stupa," is an ancient Buddhist stupa quietly standing in the center of Vientiane, Laos.
Its name originates from its charred black appearance and the history of being left exposed to the elements for many years.
Locals tell a legend that a seven-headed Naga guards this stupa and once saved the town from the ravages of war, making it a sacred site.
For the best experience, visit during the cool morning hours. There is no entrance fee, and visitors can freely explore around the stupa.
Surrounded by office buildings, the area offers a glimpse into local life and serves as a peaceful photo spot with fewer tourists.
On some nights, the stupa is illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere.
📍Location: Vientiane, Laos
