Laos travel plan, 3 cities, self-drive, 3 days, 2 nights

🚗🇱🇦 We drove to Laos for 3 days and 2 nights, departing through the Nong Khai border crossing to Vang Vieng, Muang Pheung, and Vientiane. Driving there yourself requires a vehicle passport, which can be obtained at any transport station. The cost is just over 100 baht.🍃 We went in late April 2025, on a weekday, so there weren't many tourists.
☘️🇱🇦 Day 1: Vang Vieng ☘️
9:00 AM: Processed the car crossing at the Nong Khai border crossing. It took 1 hour on the Thai side and another hour on the Lao side. 11:00 AM: Drive to Vang Vieng, then take the expressway. It took about 2 more hours. 1:00 PM: Have lunch at Naked Espresso Bar in Vang Vieng. 2:00 PM: Drive to Angsavanh Resort (we walked in because we were there on a weekday. Reservations are required on weekends or it will be full). 4:00 PM: Drive to Vang Vieng. Buy a Song River boat tour for 200 baht per person. 5:00 PM: Paddle along the Song River, letting it flow for about 1.5 hours. 6:30 PM: Enjoy pizza for dinner at the Green Restaurant. 8:00 PM: Drive back to your accommodation.
🌿🇱🇦 Day 2: Muang Phueng 🌿
7:00 AM: Take photos at your accommodation, have breakfast. 9:00 AM: Hike up Pha Nam Sai, which is quite steep. The ascent takes about 40 minutes. 11:30 AM: Head to Blue Lagoon 1 and jump in the water. 1:00 PM: Lunch at Pull Mind (the restaurant has moved, but I'm not sure where it's moved to). 2:00 PM: Drive onto the expressway to Ang Nam Tong, Muang Phueng. 4:00 PM: Check in at the accommodation. We walked in as usual, but called to check availability. 5:00 PM: Do activities at the accommodation: pedal boats, rowing, and swimming. 7:00 PM: Dinner at the accommodation.
☀️🇱🇦 Day 3: Vientiane ☀️
7:30 AM: Breakfast at the accommodation. 8:00 AM: Wat Sin Chaiyaram. Not far from Ang Nam Tong, a beautiful temple but still under construction. 10:00 AM: Pha Lueang Cafe, located in the raft accommodation area, a beautiful cafe with mountain views and an EV charger. 11:00 AM: Drive into Vientiane, take the expressway. 12:30 PM: Lunch at PVO Vietnamese restaurant, a must-try, delicious and inexpensive restaurant. 13:00 PM: Hichillico cafe, a newly opened cafe + That Dam Stupa. 14:00 PM: Wat Si Saket + Haw Phra Kaew. 15:00 PM: Patuxai, there is parking nearby, costing about 5,000 kip. 16:00 PM: That Luang Stupa, Vientiane. 17:00 PM: Drive across the border back to Nong Khai. #Laos3Days2NightsTrip #LaosTravelPlan #LaosDriving #LaosTravelPlanGiveAway #WhereToTravelInLaos
