This journey began with the intention of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to experience the serene atmosphere imbued with faith at "Wat Chalo," located in Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Province. Wat Chalo is an ancient temple with a long history and is highly revered by the locals. Surrounded by lush greenery and large trees, the temple features religious structures that beautifully reflect traditional Thai art.
One of the highlights within the temple is the "Sunken Ubosot," a unique chapel situated below ground level, which is a rare sight. Additionally, there are ancient Buddha statues and a well-maintained stupa for visitors to pay respects and seek blessings for their lives.
Getting to Wat Chalo is convenient. If traveling from Bangkok, you can take the Ratchaphruek Road or use public transportation to Bang Kruai, then take a motorcycle taxi or a regular taxi to the temple, which is just a short ride away. Around the temple, there are small local eateries to explore, especially the famous boat noodles by the canal that many people highly recommend.
This trip not only offers the chance to worship, make merit, and recharge spiritually but also provides an opportunity to learn about local history and deeply immerse yourself in the community's culture. It's a simple yet fulfilling day filled with peace and joy.
If you're looking for a cultural destination near Bangkok, Wat Chalo in Bang Kruai is definitely worth considering.
