Baotong Temple (宝通寺) is a historic Buddhist temple located at the southern foot of Mount Hong in Wuhan’s Wuchang District. Established during the Liu Song Dynasty (420–479 AD), it stands as one of Wuhan’s oldest and most significant temples, with a history spanning over 1,600 years .  
The temple complex covers more than 110,000 square meters and features traditional Chinese architecture, including the Shanmen (main gate), Mahavira Hall, Jade Buddha Hall, and the seven-story Hongshan Pagoda, which offers panoramic views of the city . Baotong Temple has undergone numerous renovations throughout its history, reflecting its enduring cultural and religious significance. 
Recognized as a National Key Buddhist Temple in the Han Chinese area since 1983, Baotong Temple continues to be an active place of worship and a site of cultural heritage .
