| May Off-Peak Travel Full Guide!. Attached are local hidden gems💡
As a seasoned player who has just returned from my second visit, this guide will help you avoid the crowds and take amazing photos to share with your friends📸
🌟 Must-Know Before You Go
• Tickets: Combo ticket (admission + cable car) is CNY 170. Students/seniors enjoy discounts with valid ID. Residents of Hangzhou/Shaoxing get free admission (cable car fee required). It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance on the official platform and enter the park directly by scanning your ID card for a faster experience~
• Opening Hours: 7:30–20:00. The night tour light show starts after 19:00. Remember to reserve time to see the night view!
• Transportation:
◦ High-speed train: Hefei South Station → Wuyuan Station (approx. 2 hrs 13 mins, ticket price from CNY 175.5). After exiting the station, you can take the scenic area shuttle bus (CNY 20/person, 40 mins direct).
◦ Self-driving: Navigate to "Huangling Scenic Area". It is only 9 km from the Jiangwan Expressway exit. The scenic area provides free parking.
📸 Top 5 Must-Visit Spots
1. Shaiqiu Viewing Platform
There are fewer people and softer light from 6:30–7:30 in the morning. The peppers🌶️ and corn🌽 in the bamboo baskets perfectly frame the white walls and black tiles! It is recommended to use a telephoto lens to compress the space and capture the layered beauty of the "Shaiqiu Village".
2. Leixin Bridge Glass Walkway
This high-altitude glass bridge is 298m long, with terraced fields under your feet. It is recommended to wear non-slip shoes. On a sunny day, you can capture the amazing "sky mirror" effect✨
3. Huaxi Water Street
The stream flows through the village, with bluestone roads + red lanterns, making it a perfect place for ladies in Hanfu to take photos! Come in the evening to capture the "water street reflection" with super dreamy light and shadows~
4. Wuguitang
The carved window lattices of the ancient house courtyard come with a retro filter. The pumpkins🎃 and gourds placed on the windowsill are natural props. Taking photos of people in side backlight creates a super storytelling effect.
5. Mid-section of the Terraced Field Cable Car
When the cable car rises to the hillside, take out your camera decisively! The combination of thousands of acres of terraced fields and Hui-style roofs is like a real-life version of "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains"🌾
🍜 Huangling Cuisine
• Tianjie Food Mansion: Must-order dishes include braised carp (tender meat) and steamed pork with rice flour (fragrant lotus leaf). The spring limited "flower feast" is visually stunning!
• Ancient Village Snack Street: Oil-fried dumplings (preserved vegetable filling) for CNY 10 for 3, freshly steamed rice cakes (sprinkled with sweet-scented osmanthus honey), get your carbohydrate happiness✔️
• Hidden gem: Farmhouse chicken soup in Xiaoyong Village (must be booked 2 hours in advance), simmered over firewood for 4 hours, so delicious it will make you want to swallow your tongue!
🏡 Accommodation Recommendations
• Luxury on the Top of the Mountain: Shaiqiu Beautiful Residence (you can see Shaiqiu when you open the window, including VIP access, CNY 800+/night during peak season).
• Cost-effective on the hillside: Xiaoyong Village Shuya Inn (4-minute walk to the scenic area, enjoy mountain view rooms + farmhouse dishes for CNY 150 per person).
• Exclusive for night photography: Tianjie Hotel (enjoy the deserted ancient village night view after 21:00, a hidden gem for photography enthusiasts).
🎡 May Limited-Time Activities
• Intangible Cultural Heritage Board Dragon Lantern: Every day at 19:05 in front of the Ancestral Hall Square, follow the lantern team parade and feel the ancient village atmosphere (remember to grab a spot in advance!).
• Shuikou Rainforest: After the artificial fog forest is turned on, it feels like you are in the "Avatar" scene, 25℃ constant temperature to escape the summer heat is super comfortable🌿
• Ancient Incense Making DIY: Experience handmade incense making in Huaxi Water Street and take away a "Huangling flavor"~
⚠️ Tips to Avoid Pitfalls
• Off-peak tips: Enter the park on the first weekday at 7:30. The cable car line will be over 1 hour after 2pm! Night tour tickets (CNY 170 including admission for the next day) are suitable for taking night views + a second visit the next day.
• Equipment recommendations: Non-slip shoes (the bluestone road is slippery), lightweight raincoat (it rains a lot in May), power bank (taking pictures drains the battery quickly).
• Fun fact: Mineral water in the scenic area is CNY 8/bottle. You can bring your own water bottle to get free mountain spring water; staff in blue vests can provide hand-drawn maps~
✨ Travel Bonus: In mid-May, the second phase of the Gaoling Terraced Fields flower sea is still in full bloom. Navigate to the backyard of "Photographer's Home" to unlock an undisturbed exclusive view!
