“Huangling – A Day in the Village of Sun-Dried Treasures”

#hellohalloween
Life in Huangling Village follows the rhythm of nature and tradition. Each morning, villagers wake early to pick fresh fruits and vegetables from the surrounding terraced fields—such as chilies, corn, pumpkins, and chrysanthemum flowers. After harvesting, they carefully slice, sort, and spread them on large round bamboo trays placed on wooden balconies or rooftops to dry under the warm mountain sun. This daily routine, called “晒秋” (shài qiū), transforms the village into a living painting filled with bright reds, yellows, and oranges. While the crops soak up sunlight, villagers tend to tea plants, care for chickens, or sell handmade local products to visitors. In the afternoon, families gather to check and turn the trays to ensure even drying. As evening falls, the golden sunset lights up the hills and white houses, marking the end of a peaceful day. Huangling’s routine keeps its centuries-old traditions alive in harmony with nature’s beauty.
