Sunlight Rock ☀️

We climbed Sunlight Rock slowly, taking our time as the stone path curved through trees and small courtyards. Along the way, we paused to watch lizards sun themselves and to catch the breeze that rolled off the sea. As we reached the top, the city revealed itself all at once, rooftops, boats, distant hills, and a coastline that shimmered beneath the afternoon light. It didn’t feel like a peak. It felt like a pause, a place to breathe and take in how far we’d come. 🏞️🌿🌅

At the summit, a few people stood quietly, watching birds drift below them. No one spoke loudly. We sat for a while, letting the wind press gently against our backs and the view settle in. From up there, Gulangyu felt both tiny and infinite, held between sky and sea. It was still, but not silent, just enough sound to remind us we were part of something much bigger. 🧭🕊️🌊
