• Karst Peak Forest Landscape: Xu Xiake once praised, "There are many mountain peaks in the world, but only here do peaks form a forest." Take the sightseeing bus along the mid-mountain viewing path to enjoy a 360° unobstructed view of the peak forest. Don’t miss iconic sights like Bagua Fields, Stars Surrounding the Moon, and General Peak. In spring, rapeseed flowers bloom; in autumn, golden rice waves—every snapshot looks like a masterpiece!

• Buyi Ancient Village: The ancient village preserves many century-old banyan trees, which are the Buyi’s sacred blessing trees. Step into the tie-dye and weaving workshops to experience traditional handicrafts firsthand. At the Nostalgia Market, you can buy Buyi embroidery, glutinous rice wine, and other special souvenirs.

• Cycling Through the Countryside: Rent an electric bike or bicycle and ride along the Nahui River cycling path, weaving between peak forests and rice fields—super relaxing! The recommended route is from Xu Xiake Square to Wanfo Temple, with picturesque scenery all along the way.

• Folk Culture Experience: Some restaurants or festival days feature “Bayin Sitting Singing” (intangible cultural heritage) performances. There are also family-friendly activities like rice field fishing and rice planting. If you’re lucky, you can catch Buyi song and dance shows to feel the rich ethnic atmosphere.

• Starry Sky Camping: If you come in summer, highly recommend camping at the Wanfenglin Camping Base to experience starry sky camping. On clear nights, the Milky Way is clearly visible, as if you can reach out and touch the romance of the universe.

Itinerary Planning

• One-day Tour: In the morning, take the sightseeing bus to tour Wanfenglin, check in at Bagua Fields and other spots, have Huangxiu egg fried rice near General Peak for lunch; in the afternoon, cycle around Nahui Village and try tie-dyeing.

• Two-day Tour: Day 1 morning tour Wanfenglin, afternoon visit ancient banyan trees and tie-dye workshop in Shang Nahui Village, stay overnight at a Buyi guesthouse and taste the Buyi Eight Bowls; Day 2 morning visit Wanfo Temple, afternoon go to Yulong Village for fishing experience or head to Yuhuangding for panoramic views of the peak forest.

• Transportation: High-speed rail to Guiyang North, transfer to Xingyi Station, then a 20-minute taxi to the scenic area; for self-driving, navigate directly to “Wanfenglin Scenic Area General Peak Square,” parking fee 10 RMB/day.

• Food: Must try Huangxiu egg fried rice, paired with pickled radish—absolutely amazing, about 15 RMB per person; don’t miss the Buyi Eight Bowls, including sour bamboo shoot fish, cured meat with blood tofu, and colorful glutinous rice, recommended at “Ancient Village Lamb Restaurant”; snacks to try include chicken rice balls, Shuabatou, and Gangzi noodles.

Practical Tips

• Best Seasons: March-April for rapeseed flower seas, July-August for summer cooling, September-October for golden rice waves.

• Clothing: Wear comfortable sports shoes, bring a sun hat and light jacket, as mountain areas have big temperature differences.

• Avoid Pitfalls: Buy sightseeing bus tickets together with entrance tickets; bargain when shopping in villages; don’t trust unofficial “local guides,” navigation is very convenient.

• Photography: Shoot Bagua Fields in the morning, Stars Surrounding the Moon at dusk; drone photography requires advance approval, many no-fly zones in the scenic area.
