Don’t just go to those places this winter
A crowded attraction
I went to other Rime Islands in winter before
Nothing compares to the shock that the rime here brings to me
This is the Kulbin Platform in Yichun
When the Kuerbin Hydropower Station releases water, it becomes an ice-free river and rime is easily produced. Compared with Jilin, it is more spectacular, with beautiful scenery, fewer people, and less commercial.
About how to go ❓
You can drive directly to Harbin by yourself. You can take the train to Hongxing Station and fly to Yichun.
Then take the bus to Hongxing. There are many buses to Kulbin just outside the Hongxing Railway Station.
❄️Rime viewing period: December to the end of March. Note that the rime usually appears in the morning and will melt after noon.
Play guide:
Xunke rime viewing platform
It is right next to the village. There are more rime here and the probability is very high. You can climb to the mountain to watch the sunrise and overlook the spectacular world of ice and snow.
Look at the stars
There is almost no light pollution here, and the Milky Way is clearly visible at night. To see the Milky Way, avoid the full moon.
Alpine Village
Where to watch the sunrise, you can ask the B&B owner to contact you and charter a car there.
Volcano Geopark
There are rhododendrons in summer, but the scenery is average in winter. You can go there at your own discretion.
About accommodation❓
The rime viewing area is in a village. You can choose any hotel in the village with similar conditions. The price is not expensive for a bed plus three meals.
some important tips
The camera is prone to power outage due to low temperatures, so prepare a few spare ones.
When entering indoors from outdoors, put away the camera in advance, otherwise the lens will fog up
Don't step on the ice by the river casually, it's very thin
The temperature here is minus 20-30 degrees, so you need to wear more clothes, especially gloves.
