Shuhe Ancient Town

#mytraveldiary

Shuhe Ancient Town (Chinese: 束河古镇) is one of the earliest settlements of the Naxi people.

It was an important post on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, a key trade route in Southwest China linking Yunnan with Tibet and beyond.

Also called Longquan Village (“Dragon Spring Village”) in some contexts.

It’s part of the Lijiang Ancient City (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and retains many well‑preserved old buildings, culture, local architecture, and traditional vibes.

Here are activities and sights in and around Shuhe:
Ancient architecture & alleys: Walking through the old cobbled streets, old wood/plaster houses, stone bridges, courtyards. Great for photography and atmosphere.

Tea Horse Road Museum: Learn history of the trade route, the local tea trade, culture, etc. The museum is housed in a ~400‑year‑old mansion.
