New Year, go to Yangon "The Secretariat", we like the old building very much.

Ending the post, New Year's in Yangon with a place that is definitely worth visiting, "The Secretariat of Yangon".

This building used to be the office of the old government since the British ruled Burma. It used to be the office of the British High Commissioner of Burma, the parliament building, and the office of the Burmese cabinet after independence from the British.

The building is built in a U shape. Originally, there were 16 domes, but 8 of them survived. It is a colonial architecture, made of red bricks. It used to be the office of General Aung San, the father of Aung San Suu Kyi, who was assassinated along with 6 other cabinet members.

After being abandoned for a long time, there was a debate about whether to renovate it into a hotel or a museum. The conclusion was not to build a hotel... Now it is almost completely renovated. It is an art gallery, art exhibition, and museum. There is also a coffee shop and fast food.

The interior is very beautiful. There are many floors. There is a balcony looking out to the surrounding buildings. The woodwork inside is very beautiful and intricate. It is another important landmark of Yangon that should be visited at least once.

I have posted pictures from many angles for everyone to admire.
