The Adachi Museum of Art has topped the Japanese Garden Rankings for 21 consecutive years, surpassing historical landmarks like Kyoto's Katsura Imperial Villa. It is also the only attraction in the San'in region to receive a three-star rating from the Michelin Green Guide Japan!
Founded by Yasugi City entrepreneur Zenko Adachi, the Adachi Museum of Art is not only a sanctuary for art but also a tribute to his hometown and the cultural development of Shimane Prefecture. The museum houses approximately 1,500 exquisite pieces, including modern Japanese paintings, ceramics, lacquerware, and masterpieces by renowned artists like Taikan Yokoyama.
Each season, the museum hosts special exhibitions, allowing visitors to experience the harmonious resonance between art and nature as the seasons change.
Spanning an area of about 50,000 tsubo (approximately 165,000 square meters), the museum features six themed gardens, including the "Dry Landscape Garden," "White Sand and Pine Garden," "Moss Garden," and "Pond Garden." Every step reveals the pinnacle of Japanese garden artistry.
