Yichun Yangshan Qiyin Zen Temple

Founded by the Tang Dynasty Zen master Huiji in the fifth year of the Huichang era (845 AD), this temple is the ancestral home of the Weiyang School, the first of the "Five Houses and Seven Schools" of Chinese Zen Buddhism. Within the temple grounds stand two ancient ginkgo trees, said to have been planted by Master Huiji himself.
During the Song Dynasty, the temple was renamed "Taiping Xingguo Temple." Renowned figures such as Huang Tingjian, Fan Chengda, Xin Qiji, and Zhu Xi have visited this historic site.
📍 Address: Dongnan Village, Hongjiang Township, Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, at the foot of Jiyun Peak on Yangshan Mountain (approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Yichun).
