Three layers of different styles ~ Yilan Wufengqi Waterfall

Wufengqi Waterfall on the west side of Jiaoxi Township is a famous scenic spot in Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County. Wufengqi Waterfall is located at the junction of the Xueshan Mountains and the Lanyang Plain. The name comes from the fact that there are five peaks lined up behind the waterfall, which looks like a triangular flag, so it is called "Wufengqi Waterfall."

Wufengqi Waterfall is 100 meters long and is divided into three layers. The upper waterfall is about 50 meters high and flows down from the top of the canyon. The middle waterfall passes through the mountain wall and is about 30 meters high. The lower waterfall is about 20 meters high. There is a naturally formed small pool under the waterfall with very clear water. The Wufengqi area has a natural condition of terrain height difference due to the influence of faults. Coupled with the rainy climate in Jiaoxi, the water flow is quite abundant. After continuous scouring, the hard four-sided sandstone is exposed. The river then flows through the broken cliffs composed of four-sided sandstone, forming a series of waterfalls in Wufengqi.

When you arrive at Wufengqi Waterfall, you can start from the small pool next to the waterfall on the bottom level. Follow the trail up for about 15 minutes to reach the second waterfall. There is a "Wufeng Pavilion" next to the waterfall, where you can see the gurgling waterfall in the green mountains and valleys, which is quite refreshing. If you continue to walk to the third waterfall at the top, it will take another 30 to 40 minutes to reach. On the way, there is a fork in the road that leads to the "Our Lady's Villa" above the scenic area. Due to the excellent view and the beautiful hiking path along the way, it attracts many tourists other than pilgrims.
