Guangdong Nearby Getaway | 2 Days & 1 Night in Chenzhou's Mangshan Mountain – So Fun You Won’t Want to Leave!

When summer hits, the heat in Guangdong is practically scorching 🌞. My bestie and I dashed straight to Mangshan Mountain in Chenzhou, just a short trip from Guangdong ⛰️. We experienced the No.1️⃣ rafting adventure in southern China 🚣‍♀️ and savored unique cave cuisine. This trip was an absolute blast!

🚄 Transportation: From Shenzhen North to Lechang East by train, then a 1.5-hour taxi ride to the destination.

💦 Activities:
✅ Mangshan Grand Canyon Rafting: A thrilling 9.8 km, 2.5-hour ride with cool, crystal-clear water 💦 and endless twists and turns—screaming our lungs out (Aaaaaah!) for ultimate stress relief!
✅ Tiantai Mountain: Took a sightseeing bus and escalator for an easy ascent. Xiaotiantai offers sea of clouds views, while Dataintai boasts breathtaking sunsets 🌄.
✅ Monkey King Valley: Features a 3,000-meter-long waterfall canyon with sheer cliffs and ultra-high negative oxygen ion levels—a perfect natural oxygen bar 🍃.
✅ Swallow Rock (Yanziyan): A stunning limestone cave teeming with swallows. Enjoyed coffee at the Lost Planet Café, followed by bonfire nights and outdoor movies—super photogenic!
Nearby activities like off-road ATV rides and cloud-walking kept us entertained on day two. So much fun, we didn’t want to leave 🤣.

🍲 Food:
We dined inside Swallow Rock Cave—cool and refreshing, a total escape from the summer heat. Must-tries: herbal chicken, bamboo-tube rice with cured meats, and Mangshan fern root cakes (featured on *A Bite of China*)—sticky, sweet, and delicious! The Yao ethnic girls’ warm toast rituals amped up the vibe.

My friend picked this gem 👏—a stay that included Swallow Rock tickets!
Nestled in bamboo forests, the Hakka-style main building is eye-catching.
Our terrace suite faced bamboo-clad mountains, blending modern Chinese design with a projector, tea set, and a bathtub on the balcony 🛁. Post-adventure soaks were pure bliss!
