Do you know about the uninhabited island in Tokyo Bay?
In this post,
I would like to introduce you to Sarushima🌿
---What is Sarushima? ------------------------------
Sarushima is an uninhabited island in Yokosuka Bay.
It is said to be the largest natural island in Tokyo Bay.
There are no accommodations on Sarushima🥺
However, it is only a 10-minute ferry ride away, so if you go in the morning,
you can enjoy it even as a day trip! !
---Experience the world of Laputa! ------------------
Sarushima was originally an uninhabited fortress.
At the time, artillery batteries and ammunition stores were preserved as a key to protecting Tokyo Bay,
and the ruins of the fortress remain in the middle of nature.
This is why it is said to look like Ghibli's Castle in the Sky!
If you want to know more about Sarushima,
I recommend joining the Sarushima Exploration Tour (paid).
The navigator will explain it in detail 🫶
Personally, I recommend going on a sunny day! ☀️
Because Sarushima has a lot of nature, the sunlight filtering through the trees creates a fantastic atmosphere like the world of Laputa.
---Lunch while watching the sea---
If you're hungry, head to Oceans Kitchen near Sarushima Pier!
You can enjoy an original menu using local Yokosuka ingredients 🍴
If you want to enjoy a more special lunch, we recommend having a BBQ on the beach! (Reservation required)
Equipment is rented at Sarushima.
You can bring your own ingredients on the day, or if you arrange it in advance, it can be sent directly to Sarushima, so you can enjoy it easily 👍
---Sea activities are also a must! ---------
You can enjoy swimming in the sea at Sarushima only during the summer season 🌊
You can also rent a fishing rod and enjoy fishing.
It's sure to be a wonderful memory of your summer vacation!
