Located in Yomitan Village on Okinawa’s central-west coast, just a 10-minute drive from Banta Café, Zakimi Castle sits on top a hill about 120–125 meters above sea level, offering distant views of the Yomitan coastline.
Though much of the original structure has disappeared over time, its elegantly curved stone walls remain - Ryukyu Kingdom’s advanced masonry techniques.
The recommended visit duration is around 45 to 60 minutes. The ruins are open daily with free admission and free parking. However, if you wish to explore the on-site museum, an admission fee of 200 yen applies.
The Zakimi Castle Ruins offer more than just a glimpse into Okinawa’s Ryukyu heritage — they provide a refreshing escape into nature. Surrounded by lush greenery and stone paths, the site is ideal for a leisurely, peaceful stroll. A calm and scenic detour, Zakimi Castle is well worth a visit!
