We hiked into Fenghuang Mountain Park just outside Hejin and discovered a kind of quiet vertical world lush slopes, gentle trails, and unexpected highlights tucked into the hills. The entrance is unassuming, and before long, you’re enveloped in forest paths that curve up toward viewpoints. Everywhere we went, the air was cool and earthy, with sunlight dappling through layers of green, making the walk feel both fresh and shaded.
What lingered most was how alive the place felt, without any effort. We stumbled onto a small pavilion overlooking a still lake ringed by boardwalks and filled with birds; a few people drifted by on electric boats gliding across soft reflections. As we climbed higher, quirky stone formations smooth, rounded boulders placed by nature lined the path, their shapes almost playful in the undergrowth. Locals strolled with coffee or chatted by resting spots, all in that relaxed, weekend rhythm.
