High-speed rail in just one hour｜I found Beijing's own Altay

The grass has turned green, and it's truly breathtaking! When I posted on social media, so many friends asked if I'd gone to Xinjiang 🤓 The scenery is stunningly beautiful! The best part? It's just an hour away by high-speed rail (for reference, it takes a Haidian university student an hour by subway to get to Chaoyang Park too), making it super convenient.

🚄 Transportation: Simply book a high-speed rail ticket from Qinghe Station to Taizicheng Station, and you'll arrive in just one hour. Upon arrival, I heard there are free shuttle buses directly to Taiwu Town (though I didn’t take one since I headed straight to my hotel 🚌).

🏠 Accommodation: Personally, I think Taiwu Town can be fully explored in a day, but if you prefer a more relaxed pace, consider staying overnight. There are plenty of hotels within the town, but I stayed at one just outside—it offered a great experience with dedicated shuttle service to/from the high-speed rail station. A taxi ride to the town takes just two minutes.

🍀 Activities: Don’t miss the cable car ride! The views from above are spectacular, and a round-trip ticket costs 100 RMB per person. Skip buying carrots at the mini zoo—the deer and sheep love grazing on grass, so you can just pick some to feed them. Other activities can be booked based on personal preference.

👔 Attire: I visited on June 1st and spent June 2nd exploring. The temperature in Chongli was around 10°C—so cold that even a sweater wasn’t enough 🥶. Check the local forecast before packing. Occasional rain showers happen on the mountain (on and off), so bring an umbrella ☔️.

🍚 Dining: Dining options in Taiwu Town felt limited. There’s a café on the hillside with charming decor—great for photos (see P11)—where you can grab a light meal (dishes are around 100 RMB but generously portioned). For dinner, I ate at the restaurant in Nanshanli Hotel, which had amazing views and a lovely ambiance, though the food was just okay. The town also has McDonald’s, KFC, and a Lawson convenience store for those on a tight schedule 🙌.
