#中山之旅 My dears👋, today I want to share with you a super unique place, that is Sanxi Village📍, which is known as the Zhongshan version of "Gulangyu".
Let’s first take a look at where it is. It is located in Ocean City, East District, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. It is only 720 meters away from Daxin Xinduhui on foot. The geographical location is super convenient.
🚗For those who drive themselves, please look here. Just navigate to Sanxi Village. There is a dedicated parking lot in the village. You don’t have to worry about parking problems at all. It is super convenient.
Next is the super exciting itinerary:
✅ Arrive at Sanxi Village → Check in at Sanxi Cultural and Tourism Station and Tourism Service Center. This is an aesthetic space where new and old elements collide passionately and blend perfectly. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the unique artistic atmosphere and take super photos. 📷
→Walking along the cobblestone street and admiring the distinctive houses of overseas Chinese on both sides, you can almost see the traces of life of overseas Chinese in the past. Every step you take brings a new scene, and every house has its own story.
→Take photos at the big banyan tree. The nearly 300-year-old twin banyan trees at the entrance of the village are so eye-catching, especially at dusk, when the golden sunlight shines through the lush branches and leaves, creating mottled light and shadows. The atmosphere is quiet and beautiful, and every shot you take is a blockbuster.
→Visit the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall (Sanxi Art Expo). After careful restoration and conservation, it has well preserved the architectural features of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Walking in is like traveling back to ancient times. You can deeply feel the weight of history, and the exhibits on display are also very interesting.
→ Check in at the unique cultural and creative shops and experience handmade crafts.
The following check-in spots are not to be missed:
✅ Sanxi Cultural and Tourism Station・Tourism Service Center: As mentioned before, its aesthetic design will really make you love it. Both the exterior and interior decoration are worth appreciating and taking pictures.
✅ Big Banyan Tree: In addition to the beautiful light and shadow, it is also a good place for villagers to gather and chat. It is full of the breath of life. Taking a photo with it, you will not only leave behind a photo, but also this unique rural sentiment.
✅ Liang Clan Ancestral Hall (Sanxi Art Expo): The cultural relics and artworks on display can expand your knowledge and understand the local cultural roots. For culture lovers, it is simply a paradise.
The specialty shops in the village are even more interesting:
✅ Zhongyong Yunsha Cultural Science Museum: Want to know what is the Lingnan intangible cultural heritage fabric Xiangyunsha? You have come to the right place. Various exquisite Xiangyunsha products are displayed before your eyes, which will broaden your horizons and help you gain a deeper understanding of this unique intangible cultural heritage.
✅ Xunxiangmixiu Cultural Museum: Hunan embroidery culture is extensive and profound. Here you can have an in-depth understanding of its history and techniques. What's even better is that you can experience embroidery yourself and feel the artistic charm on your fingertips, which is super fulfilling.
✅ Benmu Indigo Dyeing Workshop: Learn the intangible cultural heritage of ancient indigo dyeing techniques. Whether it is tie-dyeing or batik, the boss will explain it patiently. The whole process takes about 2-3 hours. After finishing a blue dyeing work of your own, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment and it is very memorable.
When you are tired of walking around, you can’t miss exploring the food. There are more than 40 restaurants in the village, offering Cantonese, Hunan, Xinjiang cuisine, etc. Many of them are characteristic art restaurants transformed from old overseas Chinese houses. Eating delicious food and admiring the surrounding ancient buildings is a double feast for the taste buds and the eyes.
If you want to stay overnight and experience more in-depth rural life, I recommend Yifang Courtyard B&B: a B&B in the style of the Republic of China, with a phonograph and Manchurian windows, creating a strong romantic atmosphere of the Republic of China. There are also gardens and tea rooms. It is really a unique experience to make a cup of tea, listen to an old song and enjoy a moment of leisure here.
In short, Sanxi Village is really a niche treasure land that combines culture, art, food, and accommodation. You must find a chance to check in!
