Xishan Temple was first built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. More than 400 years have given it a unique charm. It was originally the study of Mao Kezhen, a local scholar in the Ming Dynasty, and was later converted into a temple. The temple faces south and has a double-depth gable roof and raised-beam wooden structure, which fully displays the exquisiteness of Chinese architecture!

The Galan Hall, Weituo Hall and Main Hall are solemn and dignified. The stone tablet inlaid on the walls from the sixth year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign in the Qing Dynasty quietly tells the past. The couplet "The old shade of red cotton, the blessed land restored" and the banner "Renshou Zen Temple" in front of the gate are said to be the "fist calligraphy" of Zhang Yutang, a calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty. The strong brushstrokes are amazing! On the first and fifteenth day of every lunar month, the incense is filled with believers praying devoutly. The smoke and Zen blend together to create a great atmosphere.

Coming out of Xishan Temple, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Zhongshan Park! The green trees are like a natural oxygen bar. The 400-year-old Fufeng Wen Tower on the top of the mountain overlooks the whole city. The Zhongshan Memorial Pavilion in the style of the Republic of China is retro and photogenic. There are also large lawns and lakes that are perfect for rest.

Come to Zhongshan and spend half a day wandering through ancient temples and parks. Slow down in the history and nature, and take photos that tell a story. Just go for it!
