Construction began in 1880, costing over 100,000 Guangyang (approximately 100,000 yuan) and taking three years to complete. The building, covering an area of over 7,000 square meters, was designed by Zhang Xingbing, the prefect of Tingzhou, and a friend of the three brothers who owned the building (Lin Zhongshan, Lin Renshan, and Lin Deshan). Zhang Xingbing also inscribed the building's name.
