Introducing Like a Rising Building

Rusheng Tower is located in the northern part of Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding District, Fujian Province, facing Fuyu Tower across the Hongchuan River. Among Yongding's numerous tulou, Rusheng Tower is a small and exquisite round earthen building. It is commonly known as the "Misheng Tower" because of its small size, resembling the bamboo tubes used by the Hakka people to measure rice. Many tourists call it a "pocket-sized tulou." The owner, Lin Gaolin, was originally short of housing when he had a dream of a red sun setting over a certain area. Thinking it would be a good place to build a house, he diligently raised funds and personally carried the earth for three years before building this smallest round building. The name "Rusheng Tower" also carries a deeper meaning: like the rising sun, its brightness will last forever.

Built in 1901, the building, with a diameter of 17 meters and three stories, contains 16 rooms. It is a compact, single-circle, circular building with an inner corridor. It features a main entrance, a central hall opposite it, a well in the inner courtyard, and two staircases on either side, separated by an earthen wall to provide fire protection. Six families lived in the circular building, and the inner courtyard, with a diameter of only 5 meters, created a compact yet well-organized atmosphere.
