Introducing Luohan Creek

Luohan Creek originates in Tubotou Village, Yangli, Baiyang Township, Xiapu County, Fujian Province, and flows northwest-southeast. It flows through Hengjiang, Xixi, and Yangsha Creeks, before joining the tributary of Tongyou Creek at Xiacun. It then flows through Baibu Creek, out of Shuimokeng and Daqiaotou, and into Hougang Sea. Its main tributary, Tongyou Creek, originates in Baijian Village, Shuimen Township, with a drainage area of 42 square kilometers and a river length of 17 kilometers. Luohan Creek is one of Xiapu County's three major rivers, rich in water resources. It is the county's most important source of water for hydropower generation, agricultural irrigation, and urban drinking water. Luohan Creek boasts unique scenic beauty, with Quaternary glacial relics, mortars, boulder beaches, canyons, cliffs, waterfalls, and mountain views along its banks creating a picturesque landscape, making it a valuable tourist destination.

Of Xiapu's many rivers, Luohan Creek boasts the most boulder-filled and most distinctive riverbanks. More than ten kilometers upstream from Shuimokeng Village, numerous sections of the river are dotted with clusters of boulders. These are either riverbed boulders or fragments of volcanic rock that fell into the river, eroded by years of water and shaped into bizarre shapes.
