Yangzhou China Woodblock Printing Museum
The total exhibition area is about 4,100 square meters, divided into two major parts: the "China Pavilion" and the "Yangzhou Pavilion". The exhibition line is 798 meters long and displays a total of 175 cultural relics. Among them, the "Yangzhou Pavilion" also displays more than 200,000 ancient woodblocks in a "warehouse style".
The exhibition focuses on the woodblock printing process and the history of woodblock printing, reflecting the historical evolution of Chinese woodblock printing and its influence on the history of printing worldwide. The exhibition hall is curved, with a skylight atrium in the middle.
New Yangzhou Museum
There are 1 basic display, 4 special displays and 1 temporary exhibition hall.
The basic exhibition "Guangling Tide - The Story of Ancient Yangzhou City" covers an area of 2,300 square meters, with an exhibition line length of 580 meters and 856 cultural relics on display. It uses the city stories of Han City in the Spring and Autumn Period, Guangling City in the Han Dynasty, Tang City, Song City and Ming and Qing City to concisely and clearly outline the main line of Yangzhou's historical development, and also reflects the general trend of China's historical development.
National Treasure Hall
The exhibition hall, covering 184 square meters, features only one piece: a Yuan Dynasty blue-glazed plum vase with white dragon motifs. This large-scale blue-glazed porcelain from the Jingdezhen kilns of the Yuan Dynasty boasts a beautiful shape, vibrant and pure blue glaze, and a white dragon encircling the vase's belly. The vase possesses a strong artistic appeal, reflecting the highest standards of the Yuan Dynasty's Jingdezhen kilns. In 1992, it was designated a national treasure by the State Appraisal Committee of Cultural Relics.
Calligraphy and Painting Hall
The exhibition area is 717.2 square meters, including two exhibitions, "Exhibition of Fine Calligraphy and Painting by the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou" and "Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting from the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the Yangzhou Museum", and 66 cultural relics are on display.
The exhibits selected for the Ming and Qing Dynasty calligraphy and painting exhibition are mostly works by calligraphers and painters closely related to Yangzhou, and they are comparable to the Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics' exhibition of spring orchids and autumn chrysanthemums, each with its own merits.
The exquisite artistic attainments of the calligraphers and painters reflect the gathering of literati and the colorful paintings in Yangzhou's painting world, and also show the rich cultural heritage of Yangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city.
