The Anfengshan Martyrs Cemetery is located approximately 16 kilometers southwest of Donghai County, Jiangsu Province. Construction began in February 1994, was largely completed in 1998, and opened to the public in April of the same year. It covers an area of 69,300 square meters, with a construction area of 33,300 square meters. The cemetery primarily includes the Anfengshan Blocking Battle Martyrs Memorial Tower, the Donghai County Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, the Anfengshan Blocking Battle Martyrs Monument, the "Breakout" statue, and memorial services.
To further elevate the quality of this patriotic education base, the Donghai County Civil Affairs Bureau actively sought approval from the Provincial Civil Affairs Department for a project to establish the Anfengshan Martyrs Cemetery as a national-level patriotic education demonstration base. The existing Anfengshan Martyrs Cemetery will be renovated and expanded, doubling its area from 100 mu to 200 mu. The cemetery's functions will be expanded and converted into a memorial hall. The existing memorial hall, built earlier, is small and features outdated equipment, requiring renovation. A stele gallery and a youth activity center will also be added.
Two stele galleries will be constructed on the north side of the cemetery square, featuring inscriptions of elders, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the elders' earnest expectations. A symbolic relief will be built in the center of the Youth Activity Center square as a landmark. A gatehouse will be constructed at the east end of Lingyuan Road, at the intersection of the north and south roads, to highlight the cemetery's solemn and majestic atmosphere. Furthermore, modern technology will be incorporated into the renovation and expansion of the Patriotic Education Demonstration Base.
The temperate monsoon climate is characterized by verdant pines and cypresses, framing the picturesque Donghai County Revolutionary History Memorial Hall and its diverse buildings. Spring, summer, autumn, and winter, people from all over the country frequently visit the mausoleum to pay their respects, commemorate the heroic deeds, and express their admiration. It's a pleasant travel destination in all seasons.
