The Sugong Tower is located in Munag Village, Putao Township, 2 kilometers east of Turpan City. It is the largest existing Islamic tower in Xinjiang. It was built in 1778 AD and has a history of more than 200 years. It was built by Emin Khoja, a famous general of the Qing Dynasty and Prince of Turpan, who spent 7,000 taels of silver to repay the favor of the Qing Dynasty, express his piety to God, and make his life's achievements famous for future generations.
The interior of the Sugong Pagoda is constructed entirely of blue-gray bricks. Standing 44 meters tall, with a base diameter of 10 meters, the tower is tapered, tapering from the bottom to the top. Inside, a 72-step spiral staircase leads to the top. Fourteen windows are located at various angles and heights around the tower. The tower's surface is layered with 15 geometric patterns, including triangles, four-petal patterns, ripples, and diamond patterns, reflecting a strong Islamic architectural style.
Adjacent to the mosque is the Sugongta Mosque, one of the largest Islamic mosques in Xinjiang. It covers an area of 2,500 square meters and can accommodate thousands of worshippers. During Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Muslims flock to the mosque to pray for blessings.
