Jiandao Gorge is located in the Donglin Grand Canyon on the north side of Guling, a mountain city in the clouds, east of Donglin Temple and adjacent to Xiaotianchi. The top of the gorge is 1,192 meters above sea level and the bottom is 208 meters above sea level. The entire gorge rises in a stepped manner. It is one of the typical areas of Lushan with steep cliffs and deep gorges.
The Scissor Peaks stand tall on the right bank of the middle canyon. The two peaks face each other, rising from the ground, and their shape resembles a pair of scissors, hence the name. From the side, the peaks resemble a pen, while from the horizontal, the cliffs resemble a screen. Looking up, they reach up into the sky, while looking down, the clear water ripples, and the twin peaks are reflected in the water. The waves sway, opening and closing, as if sharp blades are cutting through the colorful clouds.
Jiandao Gorge is the most mysterious canyon and the most charming natural oxygen bar in Lushan Mountain. It has the most beautiful hiking trails and the largest waterfall group. Nearly a hundred large and small waterfalls, including the Water Curtain Spring Waterfall, Jiandao Gorge Waterfall, Four-Fold Spring Waterfall, Guniu Spring Waterfall, etc., leap and gush down from the mountain city in the clouds and converge into the Tianhu Lake at the mouth of the gorge, forming the Pearl Curtain Dam hanging high in the sky.
The weather is suitable for all seasons. Rafting is possible in summer. Scissor Gorge is a good place to view the clouds and mist of Mount Lushan. From mid-May to early June, the air is rich in moisture and the temperature fluctuates greatly, making the clouds and mist of Mount Lushan more active in this season. The frequency of cloud sea, waterfall cloud and other cloud and mist landscapes is also the highest.
