The Sandiequan Scenic Area is located in Jiudie Valley, southeast of Lushan Scenic Area, a famous scenic spot in Jiangxi Province. It is accessible via the Lushan Ring Road and is 26 kilometers from Jiujiang City. It covers a total area of 16.5 square kilometers and is characterized by high peaks and deep canyons.
Sandiequan, also known as the Three-Tier Spring and Water Curtain Spring, was called "Kuanglu Waterfall, the most recommended is Sandiequan" by the ancients and is known as "the first wonder of Lushan Mountain". It is formed by the confluence of streams from Dayue Mountain and Wulao Peak, flowing out from Dayue Mountain, passing through the back of Wulao Peak, and pouring into the Dapanshi from the hanging mouth on the north cliff, then cascading to the second-level Dapanshi, and then spraying to the third-level Dapanshi, forming three folds, hence the name; it has the momentum of a galloping horse and the sound of a bell, with a total drop of 155 meters.
Interestingly, San Diequan remained undiscovered for a long time. Neither Li Bai, who lived in seclusion at Pingfengdi, its upstream source, nor Zhu Xi, who lectured at Bailudong, its downstream, knew of its nearby beauty. It wasn't until the Xinhai year of the Shaoxi reign of the Southern Song Dynasty (1191 AD) that San Diequan was discovered, gradually earning its reputation as Lushan's premier scenic spot. Since then, poets and celebrities of all generations have flocked to admire it, leaving behind countless masterpieces.
The subtropical monsoon climate makes the waterfalls roar like angry jade dragons in late spring and early summer, while in midsummer and severe winter, when there is less rain, the water curtains are like silk, light and soft. Spring, summer, autumn and winter each have their own unique charms, making it a good season for travel.
Standing on the rocky slopes below the springs and gazing upward, the cascading waters of San Die Spring resemble a thousand egrets vying for flight; like a hundred strands of icy silk, shaking the sky; a thousand liters of pearls scattering across the sky. Reflected by the sunlight, the water shimmers in a dazzling array of colors, like the Milky Way descending from the heavens. From the "Waterfall Viewing Pavilion," one can gaze down upon San Die Spring. Listen to the roar of the waterfall like drums and thunder; see it like a shower of crystals, scattering pearls, water cascading down like silk threads, cascading into the deep valley. Both the upward and downward views offer a magnificent spectacle, each a unique beauty, hence the saying, "If you haven't visited San Die Spring, you haven't truly visited Mount Lushan."
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
