The Meng Jiangnu Shrine is located at the foot of Jinshan Mountain in Yintai District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, 1.5 kilometers from the Yintai District Government. It is situated on the second terrace of the Qishui River, bordering the Qishui River to the east, Jinshan Cliff to the west, Hutou Mountain to the south, and the Taishan Temple ruins to the north. The area is rich in Meng Jiangnu legends and relics, imbued with profound cultural significance and humanistic value.
Tongchuan's ancient name was Tongguan. Although the Tongguan County Chronicles do not record the exact time when the Jiangnu Temple was first built, there is a record that the county magistrate Song Zong'e rebuilt it during the Jiayou period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1056-1063 AD). This time is 500 years earlier than the Shanhaiguan Jiangnu Temple built in 1594 AD (the 22nd year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty). This shows that the Tongchuan Meng Jiangnu Temple is one of the earliest Jiangnu temples built in the country to date.

The Jiangnu Temple at the foot of Jinshan Mountain is home to two of the ancient "Eight Scenic Spots of Tongguan": "Ginger Breeze at the Jiang Temple" and "Flying Rain at the Waterfall." For over a thousand years, the temple underwent numerous renovations and expansions during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. It reached its peak during the reigns of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, becoming a monument of grandeur and enduring influence. With its pavilions and wooden buildings, numerous stone tablets, cliff pavilions, verdant willows, and towering pines and cypresses, the temple boasts breathtaking scenery, attracting a constant stream of visitors.

The temple is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is mild and the surroundings are most beautiful.
The entrance fee is around ¥20-¥30. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance or through local online platforms during peak seasons.
Booking tickets in advance is not necessary unless you plan to visit during a peak season or holiday. For ease, it’s recommended to book tickets 1-2 days ahead if visiting during busy times.

Currently, there are no night visits or light shows at the Meng Jiangnu Temple. The temple is mainly a daytime attraction, ideal for exploring the history and cultural significance during daylight hours.
The temple is less crowded on weekdays, especially in the mornings. Weekends and public holidays tend to be busier, so if you prefer a quieter visit, aim for weekdays outside of major holidays.
