
The Pucheng County Museum, located at No. 1 Xinkai Street, Pucheng County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, was established in 1990 on the site of the Pucheng County Confucian Temple. Founded in the fourth year of the Zhenguan reign of the Tang Dynasty (630 AD), the Pucheng Confucian Temple boasts a history of over 1,300 years and served as a place of worship for the cultural sage Confucius.
The museum is divided into four courtyards, facing north and south in a symmetrical structure. Key buildings include the Six Dragon Wall, Lingxing Gate, Ji Gate, Dacheng Hall, Minglun Hall, Zunjing Pavilion, East and West Corridors, the Liquor Office, and the Treasury Office. In front of the museum stands a Six Dragon Wall, elaborately constructed with glazed tiles. Constructed in 1616, the 44th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, it stands approximately 6 meters high and 17 meters long.
The museum is divided into exhibition halls, including the Room of Precious Plaques (inside the Ji Gate), the Room of Precious Cultural Relics (in the East Corridor), the Room of Calligraphy and Paintings by Famous People (in the West Corridor), the Sculpture Art Room (north of the East Corridor), and the Pucheng Forest of Steles (inside Minglun Hall). The collection currently houses 4,697 items (sets) of cultural relics, dating from primitive times to the Ming and Qing dynasties. These include steles and inscriptions, calligraphy and paintings, ceramics, coins, jade seals, textiles and embroidery, bronzes, jades, bamboo, wood, ivory, and lacquerware. The pottery figurines from the heyday of the Tang Dynasty are particularly renowned.
