The War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea Martyrs Cemetery is located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The cemetery covers an area of 240,000 square meters and is located on a high ground.
As you climb the stairs, you will see a 23-meter-high four-sided pyramid-shaped monument made of granite.
On the front of the monument is an inscription by Comrade Dong Biwu in September 1962: "The spirits of the martyrs who fought to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea will live forever." Atop the monument are the national flags of China and North Korea, above which hangs a bronze statue of a volunteer soldier holding a submachine gun.
There is a bronze wreath at the bottom of the monument, with the words 1950-1953 engraved on both sides of the wreath, which is the time when the Chinese People's Army went to Korea to participate in the War and the United States was forced to sign an armistice agreement in Panmunjom.
Comrade Dong Biwu wrote in the summer of 1962: "Glorious martyrs dedicated their lives to the cause, their glory immortal and their bodies undying. Flowers bloom south of the Yalu River, and grass grows thick beside the Beiling Park. Their heroic spirit endures through the ages, their international spirit calling to all. Standing tall and majestic, we all admire, vowing to reduce this paper tiger to dust."
A 471-character sacrificial text is engraved on the back of the stele.
