Introducing Doupotang Waterfall
The Doupotang Scenic Area, located 1 kilometer upstream from Huangguoshu Waterfall, boasts the widest summit of the Huangguoshu Waterfall complex. A vast karst pool forms its summit. During flood season, the waterfall roars as it cascades over the calcified beach dam. The waterfall is particularly noteworthy for being the setting for the scene in which Tang Sanzang and his disciples lead their horses across the river, the theme song from the 1985 version of "Journey to the West." The lake also harbors fish and shrimp, so the local Buyi people often use nets to scoop up the small fish and shrimp.
