The Shuitaogou Natural Scenic Area, located in the back mountain of Mianshan, Shanxi Province, is 15 kilometers long and features ancient trees, strange rocks, mountain flowers, and mountain waters that flow all year round. Artificially sculpted animals, human figures, and dozens of waterfalls of varying sizes, water curtain caves, as well as dotted teahouses, wine shops, wooden houses, vine bridges, and stone tables and benches, constitute a natural scenery that is more beautiful than that of the Jiangnan region.
The road winds around more than thirty bends, crosses more than twenty streams, and even traverses a small ridge. The path follows the mountain, the water flows around it. On the left, verdant mountains rise, on the right, steep cliffs stand tall. A promontory jutting into the ravine resembles the ferocious, mythical rock formations; there are also giant rocks shaped like monkeys, elephants, and even hawks. These various unique rock formations create the ravine's extraordinary natural scenery, devoid of any trace of human intervention.
