Mingyue Mountain is located in the central part of western Jiangxi, 15 kilometers southwest of the central city of Yichun, which is known as "China's Livable City", "National Garden City", "National Sanitary City", "National Model Greening City" and "China's Excellent Tourist City". The tourist area covers an area of 136 square kilometers.
Mingyue Mountain Tourist Area is located in the central part of western Jiangxi Province, 15 kilometers southwest of the central city of Yichun City, which is known as "China's Livable City", "National Garden City", "National Sanitary City", "National Model Greening City" and "2010 China's Best Leisure and Health City". The tourist area covers an area of 104 square kilometers.
The scenic area comprises 12 peaks, some larger and some smaller, each exceeding 1,000 meters in elevation. Its main peak, Taipingshan, stands at 1,735.6 meters. Mingyue Mountain, a scenic area blends mountains, rocks, forests, springs, waterfalls, lakes, and bamboo forests, creating a landscape characterized by grandeur, uniqueness, seclusion, danger, and beauty. It holds five national designations: National Scenic Area, National AAAAA Scenic Area, National Forest Park, National Geopark, and National Natural Heritage. It is also a national self-driving tour demonstration base, China's most influential forest park, and one of the first collection points for self-driving tourism statistics in China. A mountainous scenic area that "attracts visitors with the beauty of the moon and retains them with its ecological beauty," it integrates ecological tours, leisure vacations, science education, and religious tourism.

The scenic area consists of eight parts: Tanxia Scenic Area, with cascading waterfalls and vast bamboo forests; Qingyun Scenic Area, with plank roads leading to Tianchi Lake and Chang'e flying to the moon; Wentang Resort, with selenium-rich hot springs and health treatments, unique in China; Yangshan Scenic Area, with the ancestral temple of Weiyang and thousand-year-old terraced fields; Taipingshan Scenic Area, with grasslands in the clouds and snowy sunrises; Yujingshan Huamulian Scenic Area, with exotic flowers and trees and towering ancient trees; Shibapai Scenic Area, with a high mountain railway and towering cliffs; Hongjiang Scenic Area, with Lanruo Ancient Village and radon springs for meditation.

There are no night tours or light shows at Mingyue Mountain, but the peaceful ambiance of the area makes it ideal for a serene evening stroll, especially during sunset.
The mountain can get crowded during public holidays and weekends. The least crowded times are on weekdays, especially in the off-peak seasons (late autumn and early spring).
There are rest areas, toilets, and food stalls at the base of the mountain. Visitors can purchase snacks and drinks, but it is recommended to bring enough water for the hike. Shops selling local souvenirs are also available.
The base area and the cable car are accessible to elderly, children, and disabled visitors. However, the hiking trails may be challenging for those with mobility issues due to the steep terrain.
