Dongmen Island, located approximately one kilometer east of the ancient city of Tongshan ( Tongling Town ) on Dongshan Island, is shaped like an " I " and divided into three sections: the southern, middle, and northern sections. The southern section, comprised of several small hills, boasts the richest and most concentrated landscapes on the island. Natural reefs form a diverse array of unusual rock formations and caves, creating a breathtaking spectacle with every step.
Numerous cultural attractions dot the island, rich in meaning. The island boasts a high greenery rate, with verdant trees and a refreshing sea breeze, bringing a light earthy scent. Key natural attractions include Eagle's Beak Rock, the Fisherman Fishing, the Divine Turtle Welcoming Guests, the Gecko Playing with the Elephant, the Toad Gazing at the Sky, and the Mandarin Duck Playing with the Monkey.
Due to its unique coastline, numerous unusual rocks, and beautiful natural scenery, over 20 films and TV series have been filmed here. Films and TV series such as "Journey to the West," "Sea of Love," and "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" all used Dongmen Island as a filming location.
Besides enjoying the sea, you can also savor fruits and admire flowers, which is also a wonderful experience. The northern section of Dongmen Island is called " Fo'ao " . The coastline is surrounded by reefs and small beaches, with several small hills in the middle. The hills are greened with vegetation, mainly wind-proof, sand-proof and alkali-resistant species such as Casuarina and Acacia.
On this stretch of the South China Sea coast lies Dongming Temple, built in the Ming Dynasty. Originally a small temple, it has been expanded in recent years with substantial funding from believers both at home and abroad. The temple complex now includes the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, and the Altar of the Reclining Buddha, totaling over 6,000 square meters. To the south of the temple lie small beaches, reefs, caves, and numerous stone inscriptions. The surrounding natural scenery is beautiful, with lush forests and mountains, creating a tranquil and pleasant environment.
