Chisong was the temple's founding patriarch. His Buddhist teachings adhered to the orthodox Linji lineage, one of the five schools of Zen Buddhism.
The temple houses numerous poems, paintings, and inscriptions by famous figures from ancient and modern times. Above the main gate are inscriptions such as " Hongfu Temple , " " Namo Amitabha, " and " The First Mountain in Southern Guizhou . " There is also a monument to Monk Chisong and a poetry gallery.
