The Xifeng Concentration Camp Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is located 6 kilometers south of Xifeng County . It was the largest, most strictly managed, and highest-level secret prison established by the Kuomintang Military Intelligence Bureau during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. It consists of the headquarters located in Yanglangba, Xifeng, and the Xuantian Cave Prison.

The Xifeng concentration camp was established in November 1938. In 1927 , Chiang Kai-shek launched the April 12th counter - revolutionary coup, arresting many influential Communists and progressive figures and imprisoning them in the Kuomintang's "military prison" in Nanjing . During the July 7th Incident of 1937 , the Japanese invaders launched a massive attack, putting Nanjing in imminent danger. Chiang Kai - shek , passively resisting the Japanese and actively opposing the Communists, ordered the Military Control Commission to relocate these detainees to Wuhan, and soon after to Yiyang, Hunan, before finally transferring them to Xifeng for detention.

From its establishment in November 1938 to its dismantling in July 1946, the Xifeng Concentration Camp held over 1,220 Communists and progressive figures , including Song Zhenzhong, known as " Little Radish Head . " Hundreds of revolutionaries sacrificed their lives here for the cause of national liberation.
