The Baibu Bridge in Huaxi Park, also known as Tiaodun, is named because it consists of more than 130 stone piers about two feet apart standing on the river, and tourists jump on the stone piers to cross.
The Baibu Bridge over the Huaxi River has a hundred winding stone steps placed on the river dam. Each step is a step slightly above the water surface. Visitors must walk in a line here, looking at their reflections in the water, feeling as if they are floating in the air.

Baibu Bridge, built during the Ming Dynasty, is one of the oldest and most significant bridges in Guizhou. It has historically served as a crucial connection for transportation, trade, and communication across the region. The bridge is an architectural marvel and symbolizes the strength of local engineering practices during its time.
Baibu Bridge is located in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province. It is accessible by taxi or private car from the city center. Public transportation options such as buses are also available, though taxis are the most convenient option for tourists.
The bridge is open to the public 24/7. However, the best times to visit are early mornings and late afternoons to avoid crowds and capture the bridge in optimal lighting conditions. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant weather for outdoor activities.
There is no entrance fee to visit Baibu Bridge. It is open to the public for free, and tickets are not required.
No tickets are required, so there is no need to book in advance. Simply arrive at the bridge during your visit.
It typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour to explore the Baibu Bridge, depending on your interest in photography and the surrounding area. A leisurely stroll across the bridge and time to admire the views should be sufficient.
Guided tours are not commonly available at Baibu Bridge. Visitors typically explore the bridge independently. Some local guides may offer services if arranged in advance, with Mandarin being the primary language.
The best spots for photography are from the middle of the bridge, where you can capture the surrounding river and mountains. The best light is during the golden hour at sunrise or sunset, providing a beautiful glow over the bridge and landscape.
Night visits are possible, as the bridge is open 24 hours. However, there are no light shows or special tours organized at the bridge. The atmosphere is peaceful, especially at night, with fewer visitors around.
The bridge can be somewhat crowded during weekends or holidays. The least crowded times are weekdays, especially early mornings or later in the evening, when the weather is cooler and the crowds have diminished.
There are no formal facilities directly on the bridge, but you will find local shops and food stalls in the nearby area. Public toilets are available at nearby park areas or rest stops along the river.
The bridge itself is accessible to elderly visitors and children. However, the surrounding paths may be uneven or difficult to navigate for people with mobility impairments. The bridge is an open-air structure with no ramps or elevators.
Since there is no entrance fee for Baibu Bridge, no payments are required. Nearby shops and food stalls generally accept mobile payments (WeChat Pay and Alipay), and some may accept cash as well.
There are several local restaurants and cafes nearby offering traditional Guizhou food, such as spicy hotpots and rice noodles. These are located within walking distance of the bridge.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available in some of the local eateries near the bridge. Halal food may be harder to find, but some nearby restaurants may offer dishes for Muslim visitors.
There are several hotels near the bridge, with options ranging from budget guesthouses to more comfortable mid-range hotels. For more luxury, you may need to travel to Guiyang's city center, about 15-20 minutes away by taxi.
There are no souvenir shops directly on the bridge, but you will find local crafts and souvenirs such as Guizhou tea, ethnic clothing, and handmade goods at nearby market stalls or in the city center.
The best transportation options to continue your trip are by taxi or rideshare service like Didi. Guiyang’s bus network also offers routes that connect to other attractions and the city center.
