Introducing Xiangzhigou

Xiangzhigou, located in Xinbao Township, Wudang District, 35 kilometers northeast of Guiyang City, is a simple and natural mountain village, a tranquil and beautiful world. Its unique and valuable landscapes feature mountains, water, rocks, forests, caves, waterfalls, canyons, karst landscapes, cultural relics, and ethnic customs. Furthermore, Xiangzhigou is one of the remaining sites of Cai Lun's ancient papermaking technique.

Seven scenic areas, including Guodiqing, Nanjing Temple, Longjing Bay, and Majiaochong, are scattered here . They offer fresh air, clear streams, tranquil fields, verdant hills, and green moss. There are also ancient papermaking workshops, reciprocating mills, suspended canals, and farmhouses nestled in dense shade. Furthermore, there are winding mountain roads, dense bamboo forests, curling smoke from cooking fires, and the sounds of roosters crowing and dogs barking.

Xiangzhigou is rich in " xiangzhi, " a sacred paper product burned during folk worship . It's incomparable to modern paper. About 600 years ago, during the Ming Dynasty's Zhu Yuanzhang's transfer of resources from the north to the south, three brothers, descendants of Cai Lun, the forerunner of Chinese papermaking, arrived here from Xinhua, Hunan. Seeing the picturesque scenery of the mountains, lush forests, and bamboo groves, they decided it was a prime location for papermaking and settled there.

From then on, Chinese papermaking took root in these valleys and streams. To commemorate their ancestors, the area was named Xiangzhigou. The people of Xiangyuegou cleverly utilized natural resources like streams, bamboo forests, and rocks to create paper. Later, because the paper produced here had a unique fragrance, the name " Xiangzhigou " was changed to " Xiangzhigou . "
