Introducing Qianming Temple

Qianming Temple, located on Yangming Road along the Nanming River in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, is an important Buddhist venue in the city. Both the Guizhou Provincial Buddhist Association and the Guiyang Municipal Buddhist Association are located within the temple. Built in the late Ming Dynasty , it was rebuilt in 1771 during the 36th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty. Zen Master Xiandu resided there, spreading the teachings of Zen Buddhism.

After liberation, Qianming Temple fell into disrepair and desolate. It suffered further damage during the Cultural Revolution , with statues destroyed, scriptures burned, and the monks dispersed. Later, with funding from the government and lay Buddhists, the temple now boasts a magnificent main hall, the Great Compassion Pavilion, a Sutra Library, a guest hall, a dining hall, monk dormitories, an office building, and a mountain gate. During the incense season, worshippers flock to it.
