Introducing Dingguang Gate

Dingguang Gate is located in the ancient town of Qingyan. The south gate of Dingguang was built in the 17th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty ( 1660 ) when the deputy general Ban Yingshou expanded and renovated Qingyan City. During the Xianfeng period, Zhao Guopeng, the general manager of Qingyan Tuanwu, built the gate tower when he comprehensively renovated Qingyan City.

The tower is three bays wide and four meters deep , with a green tile roof. In 1993 , Dingguang South Gate was renovated with government funds and crowdfunding, and the roof was renovated with yellow glazed tiles. During the restoration of Anguang Gate, due to the lack of expert guidance, workers built the parapets on top of the runway, leaving no protective wall below. This is truly regrettable.

In 2000 , the municipal government allocated funds for another renovation, restoring the tiled roof and adding protective walls, essentially restoring Dingguang Gate to its original appearance. Standing on the restored Dingguang Gate wall, one can still vaguely see the remains of the ancient wall, evoking the ancient town's former grandeur as a military fortress with heavy garrisons.
