Any recommendations for Bed and Breakfast Historic District?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a bed/breakfast in a good location for walking to the main sites? We are looking for something nice that maybe has a special breakfast versus just the normal pasties and coffee? We looked at several websites but there are so many mixed reviews on some that we are not sure where to book.
Your time and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much !!!!
The Savannah Historic District is full of charming bed and breakfasts that offer a more personal and immersive experience compared to standard hotels. Staying in the Historic District gives you the advantage of walking to major attractions like Forsyth Park, River Street, City Market, and the squares dotted throughout the area. Many B&Bs also take pride in offering special, homemade breakfasts that go beyond simple pastries and coffee, making your mornings as memorable as your sightseeing.
Here are some recommended options that consistently receive positive reviews for both location and breakfast quality:
- The Gastonian: An elegant, historic inn located near Forsyth Park. Known for its Southern-style breakfast with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including homemade pastries, quiches, and seasonal fruit. The inn offers a luxurious atmosphere with well-appointed rooms.
- Hamilton-Turner Inn: A beautifully restored mansion just a short walk from the heart of the Historic District. Guests praise the gourmet breakfast served daily, which often includes creative dishes alongside classic Southern fare.
- Kehoe House: This Victorian mansion provides a refined stay with upscale rooms and a thoughtfully prepared breakfast, often featuring freshly baked goods, eggs, and specialty coffees. The location is perfect for strolling the historic streets.
- Mansion on Forsyth Park: Offers a combination of historic charm and modern amenities. Breakfast is served in an elegant dining room and includes both traditional and unique options, making for a memorable start to the day.
- Andrews House: A smaller, intimate B&B known for its attention to detail and personalized breakfast offerings. The innkeepers often prepare custom breakfasts based on guest preferences, which is a nice touch for a special experience.
When booking a B&B in Savannah, consider these tips:
- Check how far the inn is from key attractions—most of the recommended options are within walking distance of Forsyth Park and the downtown squares.
- Look at recent guest reviews to ensure breakfast quality and service standards remain high, as these can vary over time.
- If a particularly upscale or unique breakfast experience is important, contact the B&B directly to inquire about menu options and any seasonal specialties.
- Consider booking early, especially for weekend stays, as popular Historic District B&Bs fill up quickly.
Overall, choosing a B&B in the Historic District allows you to combine convenience, charm, and a memorable breakfast experience, making it an excellent choice for an immersive Savannah stay.
