Breeders Cup
I'm scheduling a trip to include Breeders Cup (Nov 1st & 2nd). I've decided to stay at Rio, but I am not sure if they will be doing anything special for those days. So, I am looking for alternative spots to watch and bet on the races.
Anyone made plans yet or have any suggestions?
The Breeders’ Cup is a major horse racing event, and in Las Vegas, many casinos and sportsbooks plan special viewing events for it. Staying at the Rio gives you easy access to betting via their sportsbook, but if you want alternatives, there are several options on or near the Strip where you can watch and bet on the races.
Here are some possibilities:
- Caesars Palace Race & Sportsbook:
- Caesars often hosts themed events for major horse racing days like the Breeders’ Cup.
- Large screens, betting windows, and occasionally food & drink specials are available.
- Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook:
- One of the largest sportsbooks in Vegas, offering extensive betting options and a lively atmosphere.
- Good choice if you want a high-energy environment with other racing enthusiasts.
- The Mirage Race & Sports Book:
- Offers a more relaxed environment with big screens, seating, and betting stations.
- Often has promotions during major races like the Breeders’ Cup.
- Station Casinos (e.g., Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch):
- If you’re willing to venture off the Strip, these casinos provide sportsbooks with betting options and sometimes themed events.
- Viewing Parties and Bars:
- Some upscale sports bars, especially near major casinos, host Breeders’ Cup viewing parties with specials on drinks and food.
- Check online a week or two before for updated event listings.
Tips for your trip:
- Arrive early for prime seating in sportsbooks; the Breeders’ Cup draws big crowds.
- Check each venue’s website or call ahead to confirm any special events, promotions, or reserved seating for the Breeders’ Cup.
- Bring ID and know your betting preferences; sportsbooks in Vegas accept cash or casino loyalty cards for betting.
Overall, while the Rio will let you watch and bet comfortably, Caesars, Westgate, and The Mirage are excellent alternatives if you want a different atmosphere or larger viewing screens.
